Sounds of Essex

The Sound of Essex is a youth music festival to celebrate young people’s learning in music across Essex. The organisers, Essex Music Education Hub, would like to inspire young people to engage with all genres of music, including classical and modern. The programme of events will include band stage and orchestral performances, singing and musical workshops. You can participate in all the activities and/or just watch the great performances given by some of the young people of our county.

Essex Symphony Orchestra

Christchurch URC, New London Road  |  Saturday, June 30th  |  6.30pm

Essex Symphony Orchestra presents a concert with a programme inspired by film, radio and TV. Performances include Bernstein’s West side story, Symphonic dances (1957) and Zimmer/Badelt’s Pirates of the Caribbean. The interval includes renditions from William’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Theme from E.T and Star Wars. Essex Symphony Orchestra is sponsored by M&G investments and all concerts held at Christchurch are in support of this season’s charity, J’s Hospice.

Lunchtime Concerts

Gareth Bennett, Church Music Minister, will host several lunchtime concerts presenting an individual performer, band, troupe and/or choir. The concert will include the finalist St Michael’s School Rotary club competition choir.
